I wouldn't worry about getting a crate just yet unless you are travelling soon. Puppies grow very quickly and you will have to keep buying bigger ones eveytime you need to use it.

A cardboard box with a nice blanket in it is a good bed. They're cheap so it doesn't matter when the puppy chews it to pieces!
