I love Thailand and the Thai people. The area near Chiang Rai and especially the Tribal peoples. This area is in the mountains and very cool, very green and beautiful. Bangkok is rather wild and the air is polluted -- hard on your lungs. But if you stay in Bangkok, my fav hotel is in China Town (not the touristy areas) - part of th Royal Princess Hotels and Resorts Group -- but nice and very reasonable. The hotel is named: Grand China Princess www.grandchina.com .. 215 Yaowarat Rd., Samphantawong China Town, Bangkok, 10100, Thailand +66 2 2249977. Get the best price on AsiaRooms.com then fax the sales manager - sales department and ask him to make a better price for you. Rack rate will be much higher. The hotel attracts many tourists from Australia and New Zealand. It has a very nice breakfast included and the dinner buffet is very reasonable. They have a great healthclub and offer wonderful full hour leg and foot massages for a very reasonable price. The perfect ending after walking and shopping all day. Revolving lounge on top and rooftop pool. Nice place to relax. Dusit Thani International, the company that owns Royal Princess has http://www.dusit.com/corporate/brands/brand_thani.html
...
has locations in other locations. Chiang Rai, Dubai, Cairo, Manilla, Phuket, Pattaya, Hua Hin and Bangkok. They have always provided good service and treated me right. Have fun...And let us know about your trip.
