Yes Cuba is poor but it is also full of charm. The food is terrible because they export all the quality stuff they produce. What's left is poor quality. But the people are lovely. Havana is run down and crumbling but it still has a faded Spanish beauty about the place. There are bars and dancing everywhere, good beaches and a great atmosphere. Havana is definately worth a visit.
Another good thing about Cuba is that Americans are not allowed to go there (although I have been there 4 times, don't tell the State Department). So you have the chance to somewhere where there are few if any, Americans. Havana rocks!
