except starting fresh with new mattresses etc. The trouble is that bed bugs don't just live on the surface of a mattress or pillow.

One solution that I heard should work is steaming. If you can get hold of a steam machine, put it on maximum setting and steam the whole mattress. You will need to do the edges and corners as well. Repeat the process if it was a pretty bad infestation. Then give it a good vacuum after it dries.

Pillows I would replace seeing as they're relatively inexpensive.
