Do you have anything else rather than DivX installed on your machine? Such as 'ffdshow' or any other player? Sometimes the incompatibility issues appear and the problems start to get to the surface when more than one software installed which is serving the same purpose would be there.
Forget about DivX and install VLC player. It is a lot better and I know that the interface does not look good, but give it a try. A lot better than DivX and I use it to play all of my movies.

Please, find down the download link:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html
and after that choose any of the available server to download.
In case you were unable to play some movies, just download those two small codecs and all would be fine.
1-AC3 Filter [Sound].
2-xVid Codec [Video]
Have a nice day.
Best Regards
