If you want some really honest advise: DONT COME TO QATAR FOR THE NEXT FEW MONTHS. The global economic meltdown has affected Qatar too, though maybe not as severely as some other countries in the region.
Several companies have frozen their new recruitments as well as ceased offering bonuses, increments and other benefits to their employees. This is true for the public and private sectors.
Arriving here on a visit visa and applying for a job was much easier when things were better, ie, in 2006 and 2007. Now, things have changed drastically. There are jobs, no doubt, but not as many as you would really wish. And, thanks to lay-offs by certain companies, there are lots of skilled and experienced people in the local market looking for jobs.
Honestly speaking, stay off Qatar and anywhere in the GCC region for at least the next six months.
