From your post it's hard to tell if you are already in Doha and waiting for your husband or if your husband will be making the trip without you to look around Doha and make a decision about taking a job.
In any event, your husband's employer should be providing housing or a very generous housing allowance because housing here compared to the US is outrageously expensive. More than any mortgage, let along rent, I have ever seen so that is the first thing to consider. Can you afford to live here? If you do have a generous allowance then your husband should ask his prospective employer to have someone show him around or suggest a reputable agent to show him as there are many stories on this forum about disreputable realestate agents. Also, if at all possible, see if he can negotiate regular increases in the allowance as rents are allowed to go up a maximum of the 10% a year I believe.
