In Muslim marriages there is a contract to be signed between the man and woman. This is like a pre-nuptial agreement. Each can write what they want in it and both sign. So this would be the time for the woman to write that she intends to work, drive, BE THE ONLY WIFE, etc. In the event that her husband decides to marry a second wife then she will be entitled to a divorce. The terms of the divorce (custody of children, money, property, etc) would be stipulated in the contract. This is seen as a form of protection for the woman's fututre in practical terms.
Would be pretty devastating though. I can't see a woman who has an agreement to be the only wife in her marriage contract staying in that marriage with a co-wife.
