i certainly don't deny that there is a significant level of racism here, but to say that whites are in better positions only because of nationality is simply not true.

there are certainly specific examples of whites being higher up the chain that they deserve to be, or of non-whites being passed over for promotions they deserve, but that's not the whole story.

i have worked with finance professionals from developing countries who on paper look just as good as me, if not better, but when it came to the soft skills (communication, interpersonal, organization, customer focus, being polite, creativity, process improvement, etc.) they couldn't compete. i have also worked with some who were very talented and taught me a lot.

denying that there is racism here (or many places) is hypocritical, but so is claiming that racism is the only reason why whites get ahead.

maybe your white boss didn't deserve to be your boss. maybe you got screwed over and should have been promoted. maybe you're not as good as you think you are. i don't know the particulars of your case, but i know that some ridiculously high percentage of people (over 90% i think) when asked think they do a great job, when clearly that can not be the case.
