Just came back from a weekend in Dubai.
Fabulous!
The weather was noticeably much more humid than here.
Then when we came back it was obviously drier and more comfortable.
Dunno if that is typical or not.

Anyway here is a trip report:

Thurs evening
- Teppanyaki at Al Bustan Rotana - very good!

Friday
- Wild Wadi (morning) - great but watch the long queues during the weekends in summer
- Burj Al Arab tour from a friend who worked there for 3 years. I didnt think I'd be into this but it was an amazing place. And I thought the Qataris knew how to spend money! rooms are a minimum 7500 per night (dirhams = riyals)
- go carts at Emirates Karting Centre. This was the highlight of the weekend for all who went (mainly boys I confess but the girls also liked it even though they ate our dust!). It was a great buzz. All of us found the hot weather (6pm) hard going but it was great fun and I recommend this to anyone who likes a bit of adrenalin.
- The Deep nightclub. Armand Van Helden was DJ. Qube has nothing on this place but I blew some serious cash there (150 to get in to start).

Saturday
Mall of the Emirates . Spent 2 hours skiing (I was very rusty). The place was pretty empty which was a surprise. Fairly cheap I thought at 150 for 2 hours. Snow was a bit slushy and slow but beggars cant be choosers. Huge, huge, massive mall. But we were surprised to discover Doha prices were often cheaper.

Jules near airport for a lunch of pork products!

I had a great time and will go back in August for another visit. Loads to do there but I can see why many prefer Doha to live in. Now I just need to try and convince someone to set up a gokart track here (preferably air-conditioned, in-doors).
