My understanding from you answer is that , the contract is not an issue when one has to leave Qatar. As the cheques would be meaningless as one would have left.That is what I wanted to know if the company can hold you here back since they have your cheques .

If they can do nothing and you lose your deposit , I think it is OK to go ahead and sign the contract if one has no intentions of changing the house in one year if one stays that long. My main worry was if one gets a job else where or one loses a job here , then will this contract come in the way.
I think that has been answered and it is no.The max one loese in that case is one months deposit .In my case that one month deposit is only a cheque which to be encashed only in case of damage at the end of the contract.
