It's not a mouse or rat on your fruits and veggies that's dangerous, it's when they are in the storage area (which probably never get's checked). Rodents are smart enough not to soil their food......but have you ever wondered when they walk over other items? There was a huge case a long time ago elsewhere in the world of drink cans being infected with Leptospirosis brought on the urine of rodents.
So moral of the story, wash cans before drinking directly out of them.
