These solid hooks or spoon trolls as they are called are not used for onshore fishing but work best when offshore.People who aren't fisherman but work on boats,Offshore Rigs,Offshore Oil installations etc do often use these hooks to catch Kingfish[chanad]/Mackerals,Tuna,and unintentionally Barracuda and Sharks of upto 6/7 feet.Its rare but I have seen Hamoor upto 25 kilo being caught with this type of hooks.During winter in Qatar offshore areas catching Kingfish between 6 to 12 kg is very normal.
