Good point Jack. We've all been there or soon will be.

My understanding is that learning to drive in this country (for males anyway--they would never take driving lessons; it would rob them of testosterone) involves going out to the desert and racing around. When it comes time for them to get their license for city driving, there is an "oral" written test ("What does this sign mean?" "What does that sign mean?"). If they pass that, then they get a road test at 5:00 in the morning before there is traffic (because the examiners are afraid of getting into an accident). For more money, some Qataris can have their driver's license delivered to their home without the road test.

A proper system of learner permits and graduated licences would be all that it takes to bring road accidents and deaths down and road safety up. All the posters in the world placed at intersections isn't going to do the job.

I do like the RC perspective on applying faith values to driving. I wonder what Mohammed (PBUH) would say if he knew that someday there would be Landcruisers?
