I think the heavy reliance on tea boys here reflects the "semi feudal" society in Qatar if I may say. when I watch American soaps and series I hardly find any maids (really very rare, and if it happens it is only to serve people who are very rich and live in mansions or palaces) while if you take a look around at the life style of the people here (sadly speaking, including many westerners) you will find that the reliance on huge numbers of servants, drivers, nannies.. etc is the norm.
As far as I am concerned, I love to serve my self and prepare my own things, I consider it a part of the enjoyment, but may be that is because that is how my parents raised me, can't expect the same from everyone.
