I remember the ordeal it was to buy a new pair of shoe laces here - it was staggering to think that Lulu, Carrefoure, ShoeMart, Family Food Centre (the list goes on) all sold shoes, polishes, brushes etc, but no freakin laces. I was close to just buying new shoes, taking the laces and throwing them away.
Anyway, in the end I went to the Souq behind immigration roundabout and there are lots of little cobblers in little huts out the back who sold lcaes. And, now that I've finally made it to the point, they also mend shoes. I'm not sure that they get a lot of opportunity to work on 6" Manolo Blahniks, but if you don't get a better suggestion I think it would be worth a try.
