I have tried to find a standard spec without any luck. I tend to rely on references to US or Uk standards. However, even if there are standard Qatar specifications I would upgrade them as the standard of construction here is relatively poor compared to a great deal of other countries. If you need standard trade specifications such as concrete, structural stell etc any decent UK, Australian or USA spec should be quite easy to adapt.

I have built up an extensive trade by trade specification document which is based on experience and good construction practice. Of course it is a commercial document which I cannot issue publically.

I am implementing it on the projects I manage. The difficulty of course is ensuring that the people on site work to the specification. Our professional staff are all used to working with either UK or Australian documentation and our construction crews managers/QA/ engineers are mainly from the Philipines/India/Lebanon and they understand good construction practice but are not used to strictly complying with a detailed specification. So my team is in the process of mentoring and coaching them. This is rather a big task as I have more than QR4B under construction.

If your are a member of any professional bodies such as the RICS or CIOB or any of your collegues are you should try their websites for some lings

Good luck
