No doubt most of us wish it were that simple. I personally love living here for a number of reasons, but I have to agree it's expensive. Most people that voice their dispair compare 'quality' of life to back home. No-one says that back home isn't expensive, it is. But when added up, it's very frustrating when you see that you really aren't making much more than you would at home.

The grass will always be greener on the other side. That is human nature. I personally get frustrated that everyone here pays through the nose for items which are clearly second rate. In Europe there are laws that govern these things. Merchants are not allowed to just put whatever price they want. This is what causes inflation, and inflation harms consumers and then it's just a vicious circle.

Consumers have a right to complain. But in the end, expats will leave one day, and the problems will remain, for qataris....not the expats.

So you see.....the old adage "if you don't like it leave" really doesn't solve anything. It's the local population that should start complaining. Like you said all of us would love to see prices going down. It's getting hard to live here.
