Sounds to me like your company may have you on a 90 day trial period and they don't want to do the work for your family until that time is over. Maybe not. 1 month tourist visas can be extended and I don't think you need a hotel once you have your RP. You get the visa extened over next to the airport.

When my husband moved over it took them 6 weeks to get us over here and that was mainly because they didn't have a house for him yet.
