as an Arab who has lived in the US for 7 years I can tell you that Americans are as varied as the color shades of the spectrum, so much so that I have come to the conclusion that having an American citizenship says nothing of person's political and socio cultural perception.
Americans are certainly not homogeneous. From Tampa to Cleveland, to Boston, I have met religious nuts to anarchists. So I would think twice before slapping labels around.
Judge a person by his personal outlook, and not by the passport s/he holds.
