Atually the "testemony of two women equalling one man" was mentioned in "sourat el dayn"("the debt verses"to the best of my knowledge).
It referes to womens testemony as witnesses to contracts.
I will not claim to know the reason why this is so but if a person believes that god is the creator of all humanity and existance thenis it illogical to beleive that he knows more than anyone the true nature of what he(3aza wa jal)created?
Is the whole issue of equality compromised because testsmony requires two women as opposed to one??

2. equation with equal quantities:
mathematics an equation in which the quantities on either side of an equal sign are the same.
An excellent point was made.....equality should not mean identical or the same .Men aren't identical, women aren't identical and xcertainly men and women are far from being identical ....god created us all different....we should celebrate our differences and the fact that diversity provides a balanced and complete society......why must we keep comparing?
Equality is in all the vital issues.....peoples basic rights, the way god will judge you, what is expected of us as individuals.(the tasks and obligations we have towards ourselves and our god).
