Basically, the Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) is the size of the network "frame" that is sent along the network connection. You should use 1492 as the standard setting, but other values between 1490 and 1496 usually work. 1500 is too high for DSL here.
QTel seems to change their side's MTU on occasion, probably to knock all the wireless routers out of commission.
If you are using a speedtouch USB, the MTU will be automatically adjusted.
PPPoA and PPPoE both seem to work, so if one doesn't work the other should.
