I thought that the relevance of the lunar calendar was that it results in the date moving so that it ramadan would occur in both summer and winter.
Anyway I thought they had special rules for certain things like that now we knwo about them. e.g. when you are travelling in a jet plane over time zones don't you choose one time zone?
They should really have just mentioned exactly what to do about jet planes and living near the poles in the original text. Now that would have impressed me.
