It sounds like you are not certain into what you are getting into?? In general my experience has been that Qataris are one of the most educated people in the GCC..and many of them who have studied abroad are as sophisticated and modern as you may find people anywhere else in the world...

But there is also a local cultural angle of social behaviour..and its unique...but then all countries and cultures are unique and different..if you are coming into this...you will have to understand and adopt...

Google and check other websites and discussion forums...You can surely find women married to locals..discussing issues..and there are no angels (Specially men) in this world(As aptly said by one Qatari in "Whats life is like is for single men" discussion thread)....and Women should know and deal with it accordingly...
