Thomas,

Running on the corniche is certainly nice, providing the weather is cooperative and probably provides the longest stretch of traffic-free running in all of Qatar. They are starting to develop more green space and walking/jogging paths elsewhere in the city in an attempt to beautify Doha before the Asian games in December, but they are still scarce.

We currently live off C-Ring near Najma street and there is a short stretch there near The Mall which is nice for walking or jogging. We have a German shepherd mix, and if I'm taking him for a long walk then I usually end up along this stretch. I've never taken the dog out to the Corniche though, since many of the locals and non-Western expats are terrified of all dogs.

Xena, I'm not aware of any dog training club, but that doesn't mean there isn't one here. I am still a curiosity when I walk the dog. In the year plus that we've been here, I've probably seen less than 10 other dogs, but I'm sure there are many dogs living behind compound walls that go unseen.
