Odes - John Keats
Thank you Faisal for inviting me to this group.
The odes of Keats are replete with wisdom and feeling. Here are some of the most exquisite lines in English poetry, and of course among my favourites.
And in the midst of this wide quietness
A rose sanctuary will I dress
With the wreath'd trellis of a working brain,
With buds, and bells, and stars without a name.
(Ode To Psyche)
Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard
Are sweeter; therefore, ye soft pipes, play on.
(Ode On a Grecian Urn)
The same that oft_times hath
Charm'd magic casements, opening on the foam
Of perilous seas, in faery lands forlom.
(Ode To a Nightingale)
Or, if thy mistress some rich anger shows,
Emprisen her soft hand, and let her rave
And feed deep, deep upon her peerless eyes.
(Ode On Melancholy)
