Japan’s Yuki Takahashi got off to a perfect start when he smashed the SuperSports 600cc lap record at the Losail international Circuit in Qatar as Round 5 of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship got underway on Thursday.
Running on extra-hard Dunlop compounds, the Honda-man was unquestionably the man to beat as he dominated the first two practice sessions before blazing to a new lap record of 2’04.413s in FP3, erasing the benchmark previously held by teammate, Zamri Baba (2’04.437s).
A few clicks from the sessions -
1000 cc yes thats more like it :-) with all the weight reduction and optimisation, must be right rockets...for the doctor and his buddies to race around...
I'm a F1 fan also but follow Moto GP and Rossi as a sideline . As. Far as I'm aware Moto GP bikes can be up to 1000 cc.
Not sure about superbikes .. But I assume they are less
brit: i don't follow motogp the way i do f1 and i know this is some other series...but what class does rossi race in? isn't there a class higher than 600cc? seems awfully slow for top level bike racing...
two hundredths of a second; a broken lap record yes, a shattered/smashed lap record no...
Sorry, but The Doctor rules !
