IPC Athletics World Championships heats up in Doha
Do you know that Qatar is hosting one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world, The 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships this month?
The championship which began on the 21st of October and will go on until the 31st, features 1300 athletes from 90 different countries.
While more about the event could be read here, here are some updates on the happenings in the tournaments so far-
· On the third day of the Championship, 14 year old Isis Holt from Australia set a sensational world record by winning the Women’s 200m T35
· Multiple world records were broken on a sensational second day of action at the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships with Germany’s Markus Rehm for Men’s Long Jump and Cuba’s Omara Durand at the Women’s 400m T12.
· Latvia’s Aigars Apinis smashed the world record on his way to discus F52 gold on the fourth morning.
· The USA’s Richard Browne bagged his first individual world title in the men’s 200m T44.
· China’s Ciuqing Lui defeated multiple World and Paralympic Champion Terezinha Guilhermina of Brazil in the Women’s 400m T11.
. Russia’s Vladislav Frolov claimed his second gold of the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships and was one of five athletes to smash world records yesterday.
You can get your tickets online at https://doha2015.q-tickets.com, in Villaggio, Landmark and City Centre malls, as well as in ticket booths at the ground to witness the incredible action of IPC. Children below the age of four and pensioners aged 60+ can enjoy the championship for free. Also, all proceeds will be donated to charity.
