Football - The "OTHER" Religion
By baldrick2dogs •
All this regilious talk is doing my head in!
The new EPL season starts in a couple of weeks.
Who's your team playing in the season opener?
Man United play Birmingham City at Old Trafford - I predict a 3-0 thrashing with Michael Owen coming off the bench to score the third :o)
Man City...I see lotsa crying here come mid season :)
Well Arsene, you've got a bigger headache because UEFA has branded Eduardo a cheat and banned him for two matches..
Wenger: I will take positives from our defeat
Dear Supporter,
I think what is the most difficult thing to take from Saturday's defeat against Manchester United is that we were the better team and we lost the game. We were in front and had a chance to score the second goal and got punished on two goals. It is beyond belief.
Overall I would like to keep the positives of the game because I believe that we can deal well with the disappointment of losing the game. We have a great future and we can be a real force. But of course, it's difficult to accept going home from Old Trafford without any points.
Football is unpredictable but I believe in this team. We lack some calmness, maturity and experience at times because we conceded goals at a time when there was no need to panic. We assessed two situations badly.
In the first one, Wayne Rooney was in no position to score, so there was no need to panic. And on the second one as well when Abou Diaby scored an own goal. There was not one player of Man United around our players. So it's a lack of communication and still a little bit I feel in these situations that we might be lacking a little bit of experience.
Even so we had opportunities to finish the game off. We had the chances to kill the game off at 1-0 and even had a chance to come back to 2-2.
As you would have seen, I was sent from the touchline at the end of the game because I kicked a bottle of water when Robin van Persie's goal was disallowed. The fourth official called the referee and sent me off.
I didn't kick the bottle because I thought William Gallas was not offside in the build-up to the goal, but because I was disappointed. I thought we had equalised.
Thanks for your continued support.
Arsène Wenger

Looks like chelsea's first now hopefully it will last till the end
Rafa's whining again, but at least last night he had the guts to lay into Gerard and the others for the attrocious goals they gave away..
Yeah sorry for you UK was expecting quite the opposite last night. I think we'll learn a lot about Man U and the Gunners this week. Especially if Fabregas is a no-go.
Liverpool too much quality not to turn it around.

A wise young crackpot knows no fear - Ian Dury.
Not a good starts for the Reds. I hope it getter before it gets any worse
-----------------
HE WHO DARES WINS
Rafa already insisting " Title bid not over yet" what he is gonna b saying all season long.. The only way Lucas could have made his performances on the field worse was by scoring an own goal and he added that last night..
" Dont take life too seriously, you will never get out alive!!!"
Boycott religious topics!!!!
:)
Spurs did it again.. 3 wins in a row now, the last 2 coming away from home.. best start since 1960, we all know what happened that season.. mayb jst mayb they will go on an open bus ride this time around
" Dont take life too seriously, you will never get out alive!!!"
As long as Lucas leiva is the first choice midfielder, Liverpool will definitely not win the league UKEng.. As for Tottenham, They were rock bottom after 2 weeks last year so they have shown some improvement this season.. Giving us hope.. Know they will self destruct later but enjoying while it lasts.
" Dont take life too seriously, you will never get out alive!!!"
Yer right BritExpat.. That is close as Spurs will get to enjoy feeling like Champions..lol
I think Liverpool will do it this year.
-----------------
HE WHO DARES WINS
Apparently, Harry Redknapp offered to send the Tottenham squad on an expenses paid holiday to Florida. But they said they'd rather go to Blackpool so they could see what it's like to ride on an open-top bus.
good to see a chelsea fan here!! c'on Chelsea !!
Spurs on top, can we finish the season now... Can I be really romantic and dream of the spurs winning the title this season..
" Dont take life too seriously, you will never get out alive!!!"
ROFL .. Dream on..

"How many birds do you have?" asks the pet shop owner.
"None yet," says Thomas, "but I'm hoping to grow some."

Liverpool well done last night with thumping of Stoke, normal service resumed. Shame they did not get the Penalty at White Hart Lane..
What can I say about Man U. It was Hull city last year making all the early noise and i guess it is Burnley this year..
-----------------
HE WHO DARES WINS
Brought back memories of Bob Lord and Leighton James :(
GET IN!!!!
Man U, who are currently losing to bloody Burnley :(
so brit, who do you support
Rafa is like a broken record.. Same old excusesm including the denial of an obvious penalty.
Well done Arry!
so Rafa said manure & chelski have more funds available to them than he does,he wasn't referring to stoke city or wolves,he's obviously comparing the funds available to him & the other top clubs. anybody denying it or claiming it's not true?...
ahhh poor scousers......
come on Utd!
Chelsea WILL WIN this time. They defeated man uand will defeat others as well( including barca and real)
Bpl is Ok a few good teams, but still la liga is my favourite. best football ever, sit back and enjoy it this year
yes LFC is skint.. and the point is?
rgds,
J.J
That bloody Rooney cost me a healthy pay-out from paddypower >:(
Well it's happened earlier than I thought..
I thought he'd wait for a few games, but Rafa has already started whining..
From today's SUN:
Benitez groaned: "We are working hard with the players we have and the money we have. It is always difficult to compete in the Premier League with clubs who have more money.
"We had some money but I will not talk about figures. It is something I have to talk with the club about.
"We try to be ready just in case we can sign someone but you never know. It depends on the prices.
"If we need something more, we will talk with the owners."
Utd 1 up against the Chelsiki..
Hope you find a club.. Why not try Twente .. they have a British Manager who speaks English with a Dutch accent.
Pre season friendlies are going well.. City, after spending millions are beginning to see sign of payback..
They drew 1-1 with Barnsley yesterday :)
Love it :)
In honour of Sir Bobby Robson :_
Fire brigade phones Bobby Robson in the early hours of Sunday morning...
"Sir Bobby, St James Park is on fire!"
"The cups man! Save the cups!" replies Sir Bobby.
"Well...the fire hasn't spread to the canteen yet, sir."
Q: Did you hear that the Post Office just recalled their latest stamps?
A: They had pictures of Manchester United Players on them ... and people couldn't figure out which side to spit on.

Q: What's the difference between Liverpool and a Tea Bag ?
A: A tea bag lasts longer in a cup !
Alonso hands in a transfer request, Liverpool are heading for another year of league frustration..
" Dont take life too seriously, you will never get out alive!!!"
Latest gossip..
Wenger wants to bring back Viera.... :o)
On a more serious note : Man U won again against Boca Juniors.. Let's hope the strikers start to gel quickly.
Man City will finish top 4 this season. I reckon Arsenal will be the ones to miss out this year.
I saw Man City at 16-1 to win the league the other day - would've been worth a flutter at that price!
everton to finish top of the non top 4 - hope city don't get Lescott. First game will take a draw against gooners.
im PM'ing some of you guys about the QL Fantasy League, im not on commission i promise!! Just reckon its a good idea. Im already involved in 2 other leagues, one here in Qatar and one with mates in the UK.
It makes for good banter every year and is a good excuse for 5 mins away from work related activities ;)
it onyl takes 5 mins and is a good laugh for the rest of the season so get involved!
Liverpool fan walks into the D.S.S. and says :-
"I've just been offered a Blow Job, If I take it will it affect my benefit claim?"
@ britexpat,Well Benitez who "doesn't know much about strikers" did sign Torres who turned out to be the most prolific striker last season so Rafa may not have it all down pat but it's not like he doesn't know much mate...
Man I so badly need internet at home again......
Missing all the fun :(

Rafa signed El nino a.k.a torres ;-)
If only we kept hold of masch and alonso, and made one strategic signing in Sila, I'd say we'd have a very good chance of taking the title.
" Winning is not everything, it is the only thing. Second place goes to the first loser " - J.Johnson
Benitez doesn't know much about strikers ala Keene, so he won't sign him :)
I was thinking more along the lines of Liverpool sign Bent or somthing =D
David Blaine was gutted to hear that his record of 48 days in the box doing absolutely nothing has been broken by Darren Bent.
I'm trying to think up of some 'Bent' jokes.....
I have liked The Reds since the days of Shankly and Revie.. I want them to do well, but I think Rafa is not the right manager for them.. i still do for them to finish third..
Funniest story today is that Sunderland have paid 15 million for Darren Bent.. :o)))))))
Owen left Anfield for the Bernebau 'cos he wanted more money to fuel his gambling habit(this is something he has admitted to,"players are into women, drinks, drugs,i'm not into any,i just like to occasionally gamble.",Rafa didn't take him back because the club is bigger than 1 player, even if that one player is Owen & anyways with his injury-prone hamstrings,it's a bit of a gamble(sic!) paying big bucks for a player like him unless it's a club like manure where he isn't the only striker, more like supersub(like Ole Gunnar was for them for a couple of seasons)...i think the Reds have a very good chance of taking it this time...GO REDS GO!!...
If we do have a different league please post or PM the details, I think you'd enjoy having my side in it this year as an American owner you can expect me to help fill out the bottom of the table!
Many thanks

A wise young crackpot knows no fear - Ian Dury.
ok fair enough, is the league being carried on to this season? can i get the code? the one i setup only got one other applicant so im happy to shut it down??
That's horrible.. I can't understand why they can't use the old Black and Gold stripes .. It was superb..
no, they're going to have a hard time because their away kit isn't worth being sick on
Not really sure about Mick McCarthy... I think they're going to have a hard time because they haven't really got players who can hack it in the premiership..
I am a Wolverhampton Wanderers diehard....
Wolves have got West Ham in the season opener, so expect a boring 0-0 draw. That, or we get thrashed 5-1
Benitez should have gone back in for Owen, even Owen said that he'd accept less money to go back to Liverpool.
Can have no complaints what-so-ever, who wouldn't accept a move to Man Utd, especially from relegated Newcastle.
Good luck to him, I feel he's going to be a success at United. And it should be a bonus for England.
(And I'm a Liverpool fan too - breaking people's legs? One of the reasons why I'm starting to dislike the sport!)
Timeshave changed.. i remember when Joe Jordan and Steve Mcqueen moved from Leeds to United... What a furore..
It was one thing for judas to leave anfield for the bernebau, but its a completely different thing to sign for the scum.
I hope the anfield faithful break owens legs when manure visit anfield.
Liverpool FC. 20 years in the making, not only the premiership but we will take 'ol big ears back to merseyside.
Rgds,
J.J
" Winning is not everything, it is the only thing. Second place goes to the first loser " - J.Johnson
Man city are just trying to be more disliked than man u or chelski. Why else would they want john terry??? Chelski have drogba and anelka and who wouldn't want to punch them in the face. They are even hated by their own fans and that is just world class....... Maybe man city could hire garry glitter as manager and then they would definitely beat fergie in the most hated stakes,........
Brit, there are a contingent of them around. I have to see them in my nieghbourhood every home match... Not the best group of fans in the EPL... The last time they were in the Prem for the home darby they were tossing rocks over the fence into the area where the Villa fans were being held by the police...

Anrott, there already is a QL league that was setup last season. With that being said I dont care if that one is used or the one you have just setup but be sure to close the entrance into the league after some point because there are people who search the net looking for leagues but have nothing to do with QL...
They call it the American dream because you have to be asleep to see it... --George Carlin
enough predictions already, how about you put your pride where your predictions are? The Premier League has a FREE fantasy prediction website, takes 5 minutes to register (e-mail address is all required), select your players and then join a league. I have created a Qatar Living league, the code to join is below.
There is no 'catch', i am a regular QL'er not a spammer, i am already playing the fantasy game, saw this thread and thought a Qatar Living league could be a big hit?
So go to this website:
http://fantasy.premierleague.com/
and enter the 'Qatar Living' league using this code:
Code to join this league: 373353-113761
Enjoy!!!
Its bloody Nike again.. Probabaly trying to make it palatable to the American public ..
Is that a Qatar plate # blanked out? ;o)
Talking of kits, the latest United one is one I won't be buying. What's with that divvy chevron?
Bentley spotted in Liverpool!!!
There are too many prima-donnas in the Premier League.. The problem is the clubs themselves.. A player signs a contract.. Has a few good games and suddenly his agent is negotiating a better deal..
I don't know how anyone can like any of the current Arsenal kits, they're just horrid. The sooner we ditch nike, the better.....
Re: Adebayor....yes he was good the season before last, but that was down more to his workrate, & running around. Once his wages were increased, he obviously felt he'd done enough, and spent most of his time lazing and wandering about in offside positions.
I defended him vehemently all of last season, but after his 'performance' against United in the Champions League semi, I'd had enough.
It must be the Sun or you just like the kit ??
don't know why! but arsenal is my favorite football club.
It was really funny last season when Adebayor publically expressed his desire to leave gunners, next week they doubled his wages and he came out and said his heart has always been at arsenal..This season sum1 offers him more wages and he jumps on Manc bandwagon.. Thats what makes the likes of Giggs even more special, the loyalty shown by him over the years.
" Dont take life too seriously, you will never get out alive!!!"
Adebayor's a mercenary. He has no loyalty. The sad thing is that there are too many of them in the Premier league..
@ hassan1024,don't you think you're being a bit harsh on Adebayor mate?...granted,he had a lousy last season but he's come good for Arsenal in the seasons prior to last eh?...
@ tinay2285...good luck,to both you & your bloke!,btw,who does he support?...
ill take ur comment in watching britney spears lols...no seriously im in the process of figuring it out and i think ill be having a money bet with my bloke soon so watch out dude ;-)
I don't see why people think Adebayors departure will hurt us so much, the guy was one of the clumsiest players in the team....I think it's the central midfield issue that's more likely to hurt us, I still think we've enough for top four.....
@ britexpat, true that!!..."Mind you, I've been here during the bad times too - one year we came second." Bob Paisley...LOL...ahh the glory days...they'll return for sure...
As Shanks once said - "When I've got nothing better to do, I look down the league table to see how Everton are getting along"
Sir Alex will probably be doing the same with City..
@ tinay2285,"i'll go for LFC even though i don't really understand football,i know Rafa..."...WTF???? sweetheart please go watch your britney spears video or something & if you really want to "go for LFC",figure out how the game's played,it's not that hard really & seeing as you & Rafa go way back,he'd be the best person to ask,he might be able to give you an idea on how the game's played *wink*!!
LFC play Spurs, going to be a tough one & LFC usually start sluggish before picking up(except for last season)so hoping for the best...Man.City don't have a shot @ the title just yet,it's takes a little more than throwing millions to win this one, they have big signings but it remains to be seen how cohesively they function as a unit...Owen's a traitor but i must grudingly admit that unless he has the usual hamstring injury 3 games into the season,Sir Alex will reap the rewards for this one,no one poaches 'em like he does,an art he mastered @ Anfield/LFC (lest we forget!!)...The top 4 is unlikely to be any different this season,as mentioned,Man.City won't break into that club just yet but i could be wrong...GO REDS GO!!
I like Steve Bruce.. He's made a couple of good signings including Lorik Cana from Marselles and ofcourse Frazier Cambell from united (Surprised that sir alex let him go)..
Never been a Birmingham fan since the days of Trevor Francis ..
Lets's See ...
Tevez never really got going so no great shakes there.
Ronaldo was a poor performer last season, knowing he was on his way out.
We still have Danny Wellbeck and Macheda waiting in the wings.
Owen, whilst he is regularly broken could prove Alex's next super sub. He was piss poor at Toon as he was in a piss pooor team.
We still need a couple of decent wingers though. Valencia on the right, who knows? Tosic could be a star on the left, but I've not seen him action yet, but it sounds like he could replace Ronaldo on the dead ball situation.
Hargreaves is back to fitness, and with him, Carrick and Scholes in midfield we are back to full strength in that area again.
Brit, why do you see Sunderland doing well??
I wish the wee Scot and the rest of the b'ham city blues nothing but the worst...
I live a stone's throw from their subway decaled stadium... I know because I tried to hit the thing with said rock... =)
They call it the American dream because you have to be asleep to see it... --George Carlin
CHELSEA!!!!!!!!!
chelsea will win premier league, FA cup(which they did),champions league(which they lost because of stupid away goal rule. there should've at least been penalties)
without ronaldo and tevez i dont see how they could win. who'll replace tevez, Park? LOL
arsenal might suck even more without adebayor
hmmm maybe i should just start with a "Why am i a chelsea fan thread"
I think Sunderland will do well this year..
I see Birmingham fighting in the bottom six again and the wee scotsman getting the boot before the end of the season...
I think Terry really wants to go but it afraid to get spat on every time he returns to his parents house in East London....
They call it the American dream because you have to be asleep to see it... --George Carlin
Terry pledging his future to chelski today causing Man City further embarassment, no matter how much money they throw, the real big game players just wont head to the blue half of manchester.
" Dont take life too seriously, you will never get out alive!!!"
so bloody predictable!
I say Liverpool
The World Cup is doubt as the world greatest religion.
thanks baldrick, sanity finally prevails.
i'm predicting manu to have their typically poor start to a season....a draw.
And Man City ll be His Highness Shiekh's Manchesteristan

OK.. Now I'm begining o get worried.. i feel a Twilight Zone moment coming on , BUT...
Its because Roman Abrahmovich owns Chelski ....
whats the Russkie connection?
"Ali Baba and 40 thieves" are now "Ali Baba and 30 thieves" ; 10 were laid off.
Because of the Russkie connection....
ok doubt- why is it Chelski and not Chelsea?
"Ali Baba and 40 thieves" are now "Ali Baba and 30 thieves" ; 10 were laid off.
man city to play a 2-2-6 formation and lose each game 6-3. New owners to start screaming that they wasted their money and sign two more strikers and promote a 22 year old emirati graduate to manager. Team switches to 1-1-8 formation and loses each game 9-3. Blames previous expat manager for faliure and stealing all the money......
Arsenal to be knocked out of top 4 by Spurs ( Hope I dont get egg all over my face for that) Michael Owen going to be the signing of the season and ManU to be champions again..
" Dont take life too seriously, you will never get out alive!!!"
Finally.....
Lets see this year Wenger brings Cup at Emirates....
Or " We have a very young side" episode - 4

I do not think Man yoo will be able to make up for the losses they have had this off-season to retain the title. I see Chelskee and 'Pool fighting for 1st with man yoo taking 3rd. As for the last coveted position I'm having a hard time saying...
I do think Arsenal will take a serious step backwards this year and as it stands now I cannot see my team Villa maintaining top 6. Maybe Everton or Man shitty take the 4th spot...
They call it the American dream because you have to be asleep to see it... --George Carlin
So brit you think the Arse is locked in 3rd?
Would not see them being higher than that but could see them having trouble
And yes very much hoping for some stunningly bad moments from City!

They can't even make up their minds whether they want to head, kick, bounce , knee or throw the ball..
It'l be a fight between Manu and Chelski..
Villa and City to battle for fith..
I think Man City could provide us with quite a few comedy moments this season....

Its quite straight forward... Twenty two hunks, running around, breathing heavy, trying to score...
