Beautiful weather for sailing
Who enjoys a bit of sailing out on the water?
Its a great season for it and the weather at the moment couldnt be better!
We did a couple of trips to the islands just off Qatar over the last few weekends in our little inflatable catamaran, and its great to go out there for the day and have a picnic and come back again...
Here's pics of our little rig:

I recommend it to everyone - GET OUT ON THE WATER!
Sailing, skiing, kitesurfing, its all good and a great break from land loving life...
Hope to see you all out there! (we like to launch off Al Wakra where the fishing boats park-up, and also next to Intercon Hotel - where the jetski hire is)...
I normally get there about 12:30 for a 1pm start. Then we are on the water up until 3pm. Following that I hang around while I get my strength back and drink a ltr or two of water. Say hello if you see me floundering around down there. I am easy to spot:-
I too had started off at regatta training as a solo sailor and then moved up on to their lasers and finally finding a likeminded person to go catamaran sailing, its a great oppurtunity to continously meeting new people.
A cat normally can accomodate 4 grown ups, and normally its the two of us....if you are there tomorrow, you will find us but the winds are not as strong tomorrow.

Get in touch with Regatta, and come along tomorrow. It's cheap and great fun ;)

wow they were on my list of things to do in qatar!
i must like peternz said move my fat ass!
Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent. 14% of people know that.
I've been boating in power boats for a long time & always said I'd learn to sail at some time.
I've almost run out of excuses to stay sitting on my fat butt. I think I'll give it a go too.
Also been meaning to drop into the dive club - but I've still got a few excuses not used up yet for that one.
( Sorry about the thread hijack by the way )
I spend more time in the water than I do in the boat. And I keep getting clobbered by the boom when it swings over a lot. I have a sore head after every session. But I am getting better, and there is hope for me yet. And what better place to learn how to sail than Qatar? I don't mind ending up in the drink, it's beautiful. There is a lot to be said for no engine, its so peacefully out there. Well it is until you get buzzed by jet skis!

time bandit ... my son did sailing lesson for over a year with Regatta after school once a week. He enjoyed it very much.
On Friday I will be having my 4th lesson with Regatta Sailing Academy. I always wanted to try sailing out, and I am starting to really enjoy it. It's QR 900 for an 8 week course. The lessons are 2 hours each, and to be honest at the end of the 2 hours I am happy to come back ashore because I am not that fit at the moment.
I believe you can join the Academy for just QR 3,500 a year, and take a boat out when you like. So once I have "learned the ropes" I am planning on doing that, and I will see you out there on the islands.
Regatta are based at the Intercontinental Hotel, and the beach there is gorgeous.
