If you even need to ask 'was it a success' then you've already found your answer.
On the upside, after years and years of residents at Barwa in Abu Hamour having to put up with a totally inadequate 2 lane road, the powers that be were forced to upgrade it to a 4 lane road to accommodate the bus transport of athletes through this area.
So given that residents rank second in importance to visiting athletes, we should perhaps welcome more visiting sports teams to Qatar if we want things to get fixed quickly??
maybe i was wrong coz during the opening of the arab games they said the tickets are QR100 and for the following days it will be QR15.... what a bad hearsay i got, anyway,i would love to watch gymnastics like floor exercise but too late now... :(
Its quite understandable that expats like us, who are here to work, wouldn't take leave from work just to watch sports unless he or she is a genuine sports buff. On the other hand, the nationals have other interesting things to do than watching mediocre sports.
I have watched some events in the evenings and found they all went well. Qatar should have bagged a few more golds.
i think the tickets for all the games were free after the opening of arab games the next day they announced that tickets are free for all the games i think u ddint heard about it....
Success. Good security and few major impacts on travel and infrastructure. Attendance not packed but no one should expected event like to to be a sell out crowds. A good trial run for larger events to come.
Failure is when there is security problems, attacks, athletes unable to reach events due to traffic in streets, power failures, immigration holding contestants, lots of fans arrested for bad behavior.
in my opinion its a failure, most of the seats are empty, for most of the expatriates cant even watch the games live because of work, entrance ticket for QR15 which should be for free..oh well,i just watch some of it on TV.

Well, success or failure, I dont care - I'm looking forward to it enormously ...................
The simple fact is that these types of games are always a failure. They rank third after the Olympics and most don't really care..
They weren't a 'failure', they were a disaster!
