Who says Nothing For Bachelors in Doha?
By baldrick2dogs •
I went to watch the GP2 and Speedcar races at Losail International Circuit last Friday. Despite giving tickets away and free entrance at the gate this was my take on the crowd after the GP2 race had ended.
In a country with so little for the bachelor workers to do, they won't even turn up for a FREE race. So sad :o(
and here's what they missed (click pic for large size):

I was also surprised how come few people came.
Just a suggestion: a bus from the city will bring more people !
Boycott Israel Campaign
It is not that people don't want to go or don't want to have fun, but they are not allowed and workers/professionals here don't have any freedom and time. Imagine if you work 8am to 6pm six days of week and more.... you are not allowed to do anything without consent of your sponsor or company. That's why as some one mentioned that to fill the stadium workers are brought into trucks... may be because Qatar government really want to show that.... you know what I mean.... false illusion...
Here's the only pic I have with a pit lane girl.
Maybe no one is interested in it!
last week, i wanted to ask you to go lusail circuit but.....
The big question is.. were there any nice chicas in pit lane?
And if so, did you get any photos!!!

i hope i can be there one day.i always see it when i am on the way to doha and back.there is not so much fun in qatar;(
if you are talking about workers........what does GP2 or speedcar mean to a worker who has never driven a car in his life....i think they just dont turn up because they are not intrested........if somebody organizes a buffalow race the workers will be there..........will you guys go?
You go for races when you have free time to enjoy, these workers spend almost 12 hours at work, 2 hours between Industrial Area and work place and so they don't have time to see a race, for those who has cars, they don't need to see race since they race in doha with their cars.
Emgee - A stand on trun 1 would be fantastic, but alas not to be :o(
Jhort - I watched the Saturday race on TV. The position board was working by then. The race program was a download from their website so we knew there was more to come.
Arien - it was taken at 8:24pm
Baldrick2dogs,
That's good to hear!! If they have at least the positioning shown then we can follow the race even if we can't see it.
...that's why at least make the International Car Race competition in Qatar look a bit decent to audiences watching around the world by showing "proper" real audiences in seats to make it look good on international TV (ESPN, etc.).
But I realized it looks uglier without anyone cheering in those seats, eh?

What bachelors are, and aren't, allowed to enter seems to be a pretty random affair, and for sporting events often depends on how many empty seats are on show to the cameras.
If I was a bachelor looking for some entertainment, I'm not sure I'd want to walk out to Losail if there was a chance I'd be turned away and have walk all the way home in shame. More likely, I'd take a trip to the cinema where I knew I'd be let in.
I thought it was humiliating for the workers being trucked into the stadiums for the Doha Games. Used as props for the cameras because no one else was interested in the events. "Sit here. Pretend to be interested. Don't look at the women."
baldrick wht time did you click this empty seats??.. it was all crowded when the GP2 started i guess.

Listen to Many..Speak to a few.
I was there on Friday night and saw plenty of Bachelors. In fact the stand were pretty packed. People left after the GP2 race for a couple of reasons I suspect. Like myself, due to lack of information available about the races, figured that it was over. Also, since there is no information about what car is in what position and no coverage of the race on the back sections of the track, I must say that it gets pretty boring after about 10-15 laps. The star was amazing as everyone knows if they were there, but the organizers need to provide typical raceway amenities like big screens and stand/access to th rest of the course where the majority of racing actually occurs. I understand that it's free!! great!!, but I'd rather pay 200QR and be able to enjoy the race in it's entirety. I will still go back for March & Aprils motorcycle events and hopefully by then the organizers will at least put someone in charge of posting the racer's positions.
and like to take my sons but not at night when all little children need to be tucked up in bed. If you are English at least.
The stands are the same for the MOTO GP and WSB which I do go to.
One major error in the design/construction- why not build a grandstand on the corners where there is a chance to see the racers working rather than just flashing by?
Have I read it right? the entrance FREE? If this has been announced earlier, you must have counted me on the crowd...
Anymore free race? lol..
these bachelors will go to Losail bcoz of freebies served by 'sexy ladies'? not to watch the race?...LOL!

Withnail. For next time ... You go up north road (the one next to the Golf Club. It's a night race, but the track is excessivly floodlit. Turn off when you reach the lights.
I think the map is under "Contact Us"
the map on the tickets was rubbish. my friend tried to go and could not find it. a quick glance at their website and i could not find a map there either.
great organization!

These Qataris are 'clever': the Constitution states:
"Article 35
All people are equal before the law. There shall be no discrimination on account of sex, origin, language, or religion."
But that doesn't apply to Hypermarkets and Race Courses on Fridays and it also doesn't say that discrimination based on marital status is forbidden. Clever.
when will be the next pit!!!???
damn i missed this
No one would moan if the workers turned up. Quite the opposite I think.
Half the problem is that they probably didn't even know it was on.
I still think they should have organised buses for them.
Amoud, there were some very nice Starting Position girls of ALL nationalites. They came into the stands to give away freebies :o)
True, the track is a way out of town but there are Mowasalat buses go by every 30 minutes or so.
You can't really bitch that there's nothing to do just because that 'nothing' is on your doorstep.
I dont think so every, as I said, they turn up in droves for womens tennis, they stay in their seats etc. There are VIP seats and family seats for anyone who has issue with these guys.

tallg if the workers turn up ............im sure people will have problem with that too.
Too true Tallg, the bussing is indeed an issue. I also think there wasnt enough hype about this.... They need Nascar gals (kinda like the UFC Ring girls) lol

emn - we're talking about workers who don't have cars to race in!!!
why people should go to losail and watch a race when they can race on the roads of doha?
so sad, so nice (i mean the pic)
chaud
If buses aren't laid on to take them there it's unlikely they'll go.
For the domestic football final last season at least one large international company working in Qatar was asked to bus several thousand of their workers to the Khalifa stadium to ensure it was full.
Bald, you have to see them at womens tennis. Sad to say when there is little chance of the place being full of woman to oogle you will also not find many gents there either.
