Want to join in safari dune bashing?

By wricks

It's time to go out & let your 4x4 step on the sand and explore the qatar dunes with maching good beaches.

Back in Dubai, dune bashing is my hobby & here in Qatar I had few trips in Sea line area. I realy much enjoying here because after dune bashing, then I swim to the nice beach. Compare to UAE, Desert here is too small but plenty enough tough terrain to test your driving skill & the power of your car.

What you need?
1) 4x4 car any make any power any height

To those who doesn't have experience in the desert, this is your chance.

I am professional safari driver, & i am a good techer in terms of Sand.

By the way my name is Ricky and a member of Dubai4x4, Dubaidesert club & Filipino Offroaders (Dubai).

Don,t worry theres no money involve in my invitation, I am organizing it just for hobby & for fun.

My number is 5835847.

Please reply here so we can settle the date.

Lost, you don't need a map if you use that on the dunes. You did not ask if that is loaded with qatar or gulf map?

Godsgrace, hows your barbeque yestrday night? I left The dunes by 530pm. I enjoyed watching the show yesterday. Lots of 4x4 cars, ATV, and even buggy & jetski. Some drivers showing their tallent, like ATV climbing with two wheel up, Patrol & Landcruiser Drifting, Offcourse I show also my talent, helping others who get stucked.

Novita I don't need to make my own group to QL. Here members are all free to pay a visit. Driver will learn and after that they will explore their own trip.

My goal is to be safe driving on the dunes. At least drivers will not be worry about the insurance.

When accident comes, it's your destiny, offroad & on the road.

Hello guys I am interested in your next trip. I have Nissan Pathfinder 2007, is it capable to hit the dunes, I have been driving 4x4 vehicles for last 9 years in Qatar but not really off road experience. So I need to be guided off road. Besides how many persons I can carry in my car I mean can I go in dunes with my family 4 adults and 2 kid, I am concerned weight wise, I have heard vehicles must be light weight when in sand. Please advice..Thanks

wricks, you seems a very good and experience dune driver. Why dont you open your own group on QL and make your trip to the sand dune now and again that open to everyone?

Rolling over is depend on driver behavior. I witnessed some cars are rolling over in front of me. Those driver are showing too much.

If you will do side slopping, cresting, climbing to the top of the hills, or fighting againts the gravity, rolling will always inviting you.

That why drivers should need to educate before doing the risky stuff.

Heero, don't ride with hummer, instead ride with suzuki cordoba, at least that one if get stuck, lift the front side and lift the rear side, presto, it's out.

You dont need to spend anything, it seem that you are funny man, for sure your driver will enjoy your company.

a friend of us had his landcruiser rolled on one of the dune on the way to inland sea. He is escaped (thanks to seatbelt), but he had to scrapped his cars because insurance not covering it.

Driving on the dunes is at your own risk. Safety first while having fun.

Thats why there's a briefing before driving. Every body must follow the rules for the sake of others. The trip must fully organize to avoid any mishap.

By novita77• 17 Oct 2008 23:43

if hummer stuck on the dune, the driver must be really really hopeless.

you also need to take "riders" with you (someone like heero)...just in case you get stuck in the sand :)

This trip is not exclusive to all with 4x4. You can join ride with others. To those with 4x4 who wants to join in the next trip, just mention if you can accomodate some members. For the riders, you don't need to buy compressor, instead bring some snacks to conpensate your driver.

You need also tire air preassure gauge & air valve pin remover for easy deflate. you can get it to any tire shop.

By the way, to those who want to join in the next trip, make sure you have your own air compressor. You can get it to carefour. get a bigger one.

Jibong, your tire will be ok, no need to change it. My advice because you have manual gear, don't be a clutch rider, It will burn your clutch suddenly.

Hi Magic dragon, your mercedes mclaren can perforn well, don't worry about the clearance, for sure after the trip you will have 11 inch from the floor pan. but you need one pick-up behind you to get all the parts falling apart.

Rayes your pajero can do as well.

Jibong your x-trail can perform well on the dunes, proper tire preasure & ready to go. But check if it is equip with 4x4 option. Some x-trail has 4x2 option only.

My wife and I had a really wonderful and exciting experience today Friday,17Oct with wricks, his son, GODSGRACE, J?, Irf? and family. Thank you guys and I really hope we can get this group organized.

This is my first time to drive in the dunes and I tell you it is quite an experience. I had proven that a Fortuner 2.7liter can do the job and had reached the Inland Sea. Well, I got stucked a few times but as you get the skill it is alright.

Can't wait to do another one! The weather is already permitting.

its OK for me you posted the to QL Filex group. My pleasure to guide our kababayan & other nationalities for the safety of safari driving.

Accident can be occure depends on driver behavior.

Be safe driver on road & offroad. Give way, keep your distance, if you miss your turn, continue on the track & take a turn until the next signal.

They say duning is dangerous. As of my experience I never had a single accident when it comes to dune bashing. First you must know the basic rules of safari driving. Then folow it.

These are some requirements

1) Heavy duty towing rope at least 5 tons capacity

2) 2 Pcs of 3 tons D-shuckle

3) Acurate digital tire preasure gauge

4) Air pump

5) Good condition spare tire

6) Good condition tire

7) Jack

8) Plank of marine plywood (for jack) (50cm x 50cm)

9) seatbelt must be good working condition & must fasten for the entire jorney

10) Plenty of water

For the meantime you need to provide airpump, because you need to diflate your tire and inflate after the trip. Your car will use a lot of power if you did not reduce your tire preasure, & for sometimes getting stuck.
