UAE ban entry of Manual Passport Holders

UAE launch new rule to ban the visas for manual (handwriting) passport holders for the security purpose for all the countries people who have manual passport.

and normaly if any one make new passport in qatar through their country embassy, they will get manual handwriting passport not the computrized because they dont have machines to make the computerized passports.

same case with me, i make the new passport for my wife because her passport was going to expire, so i make her new passport here and we get the manual handwriting passport same for my daughters also, but when i applied the visas for UAE through the emirates they told me that they cannot apply if the passports are not computerized,

then i go to our country embassy to tell them that i need computerized passports they said they dont have computirzed machine here so we need to go back to the home country to make the computerized passports which is very expensive and long time period.

is there anyone have any idea to solve this problem.

thanks

This is really radiculas... to get the manual passport changed to MRP it takes up to 1 month which means any Pakistani holding MANUAL Passport can not enter UAE even in emergency case what a crap. The UAE govt. should have some flexibility on this law in order to manage some serious and important cases. May be they can start applying this rule for the ones who are directly coming from Pakistan but the ones who are already holding Residency of any of the GCC country should be allowed to enter even with the Manual Passport. I hope our sleeping Embassy do some dialogues with UAE govt. and let the Pakistani GCC residents travel without any problem.

I've entered UAE at the beginning of September coming from U.S all with a hand written passport. No problems at all..

It is indeed a sad news that UAE has declined entry to Pakistanis holding hand written passports.I am sure UAE must have issued notices to foreign ministries of other countries before implementing this order. However it is great news that Pakistani Embassy has the machine for MRPs. I hope its true.

I agree with the learned member that for the time being Pakistani Embassy should establish a channel with Islamabad or any nearest location (e.g. Riyadh)for issuing MRPs.

Once again another riddle to solve for the non-resident Pakistanis in Doha.

Regards.

No country in the world should accept a handwritten passport, especially from one of the worst terrorist-filled countries on earth.

If USA doesn't accept handwritten passports, how did my friends recently got US visa as Nepal has not yet started issuing MRP? Ditto for UAE. Is this rule for certain countries only?

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has started accepting Bangladeshi manual passports again two weeks after imposing a restriction.

"The UAE authorities have started to allow manual passports along with machine-readable passports (MRP) from Sunday [July 11]," said Md Moniruzzaman, Bangladesh's Labour Counsellor in Abu Dhabi.

The country had stopped issuing visas on manual passports and started allowing only MRPs since the last week of June stating two types of passports confusing, said an official of Bangladesh high commission there.

Bangladeshi workers there had to face troubles during the time as the UAE authorities asked them to get MRPs when they went to renew their residence permits.

The recruiting agencies here had expressed concern, as thousands of workers seeking jobs in the UAE would also suffer unless the situation was addressed immediately.

Over such development, Foreign Minister Dipu Moni convened a meeting of 12 manpower-importing countries' envoys in Dhaka on July 4 and asked them to accept both kinds of passport.

She said Bangladesh had just started issuing MRPs and it would take some time to replace the manual passports.

Md Moniruzzaman said Bangladesh Ambassador to the UAE Nazmul Quaunine also held several meetings with the UAE Department of Naturalisation and Residency.

The issue of allowing manual passports is very important, as the UAE hired over 2.5 lakh Bangladeshi workers last year-- the largest recruitment by a country. Over 7 lakh Bangladeshis are now working there.

Besides, the issue of how to incorporate a legal guardian's name in the MRP is still unsettled.

The Middle Eastern countries want that the MRP bear the names of the worker's legal guardian but the MRPs issued by the Department of Immigration and Passports lack the information.

As the envoys of the manpower importing countries raised the issue during their meeting with the foreign minister, the government decided to incorporate the information in the MRP.

India puts the name of a legal guardian in the last page of the MRP.

On July 15, MRP Project Director Brig Gen Refayet Ullah told The Daily Star that they had seen MRPs of some other countries and now are waiting for feedback from the labour-importing countries before making the final decision.

"So far, we have opinions from two countries," added Refayet Ullah.

Ali Haider Chowdhury, secretary general of Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (Baira), said it appears that the problem is temporarily solved but it is imperative that the government issues MRPs for all overseas jobseekers.

Machine Readable Passport... i guess they made this mandatory now too in the UAE... old passports are valid as long as they are not expired... the thing is, some countries like the US, they made it mandatory to those entering the territory to have MRP
