Super Friendly Police At Souk Waqef

By Unknown Raver

Yesterday afternoon I was at Souk Wakef with my wife, son, and mother in law. She is here for a visit for one month. Somehow she got separated from us in the car park. She approached one of the young policemen who are stationed around the place. He offered his mobile phone so that she can contact us to see where we were.

When we finally met up, she was raving about the friendliness and care shown by the young man. This is not the first time she has made that remark. On her last visit a year ago she also commented on the friendly nature of these guys.

Thanks to those guys for being so professional and approachable.

What's your experience there ? Good or bad ? Please share

Thx

They always really helpful to groups of labourers/indian bachelors. Last night at Souq Wakif without any prompting the policeman walks up to them and gives them directions ;P

being a western female expat my experience with locals is: those guys are dishonest liars doing all the sweet and friendly things to get you where they want you to be.

About the police at souq waqif: Do you speak English? - Uuuh? Laaaaaa...

Facit: if it's a national it's the best very very very far away from me...

they do accept mistakes, once i have a major accident at Abu naklah (route to saudi arabia) and by coincidence, a private own car with an officer on uniform had suddenly with a great impact hit my car, the problem is, he dont speak any english and im just explaining to him (while chilling since its winter season) my basic arabic language. 10 minutes later, a police car arrived, and this officer who hit me approached this police. the investigating police didnt talk to me just asking my condition..ive asked about the report he said dont worry, the CAPTAIN had acknowledge his mistakes and accept any consequence if i may file a complaint or whatsoever..he even give me the CAPTAIN's number for any further assistance...wow. My point is, they have no descrimination, if its theyre fault, they will accept it. He can easily tell this police investigator that its my fault and bring me to jail....

Keep up the good work officers and Allah will surely knows how to repay your kindness.....

first car accident last week, and lucky me, the car owner was a policeman's private car, though it was driven by their family driver, i was thinking that the odds were against me, they accompany me to the madinat khalifa police station, so even the policeman car owner insists that it was my fault, the policeman on duty didnt agree because i was on the right lane, gracias to madina khalifa policeman.

I enjoy waving and smiling at the traffic cops, which usually make them laugh. You KNOW they've got to be bored out of their minds just waving traffic on and stopping others..

Never had any direct contact with other policemen here..but am sure they are just as nice.

Yes your mother- in- Law's comments are true!

I'm here for more than 2 decades...

I always found policemen polite & dutiful elegantly (young or old).

My experience with the nationals is also amazing!

That's why I always respect and love Qatar!

I'm sure the police in the souq must be hand picked for their amiability. The number of people I've seen having their photo taken with them is amazing.

I was off to Souq Waqif with my friends a couple of weeks ago and we took a limousine service. When we got there however, the policemen pulled us over and demanded to see certification and stuff from the driver. We got out of the car and the officers were extremely friendly and explained the situation to us (we had no faults of course.) The officers never raised their voices and always had a smile on their faces after we left :)
