The Experience Qatar website does work - I am accessed it whilst outside Qatar.

It's only blocked, therefore, to people within Qatar, and is still viewable to people outside of Qatar. In fact the website contains information about future tourist events and conferences.

I don't think it's fair to say then that it has been blocked because a new site is being developed. If that were the case then the website would have been removed altogether, which is quite clearly not the case.

@china, no it doesn't contain banned material. The government blocked it intentionally since the new site is being developed and that's a generic 'blocked' message.

The book has been quite heavily "promoted", by Qatar standards at least. It's in all the book shops and supermarkets, and in receptions of hotels.

The copyright is intriguing, has it been up since 2006 with zero promotion?

that there is a desire to re-create and restore architectural elements of the area..not just all glitz! Thats why I like Doha, there is more concern about what they are building..more cultural and educational uses then how high can we build it

I was quiet impress when I went to the souq gallery and find a book about the Souq Waqif in Spanish.

Good way to impress the tourist.

Good find.

I'm guessing this goes hand-in-hand with the book you can buy, containing the same photos.
