I have been to Singapore many times but WikiTravel is a better resource. I do want to say that the MRT is a great way to get around.

I feel strongly about it and love learning more on this topic. If possible, as you gain expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more information? It is extremely helpful for me.

for hotels, it all depends on your budget and your preference.

talking about must-see places, there are lots of it, few of them are:

- singapore night safari (i loved it), there s an aminal show in the zoo, dont miss that specially if you are going with you kids.

- jurong birds park (if you wanna take a break from shopping malls and high rise, this is a place to visit, You can also enjoy the fantastic Penguin Exhibit with an underwater viewing gallery, along with the world-clas All-Star Bird Show, there is also tallest man made water falls)

- duckboat tour (it offers combined city and sea tour with out switching)

- Sentosa Island (You can go on cable cars from harbourpoint MRT stop, if you do go there make sure you go to underwater world, visit the dolphin lagoon, to see the dolphin show, and do the luge and sky ride and - if your into rides!!, one of the best attraction in sentosa is "song of the sea" - its a mesmerizing show with a live cast and dramatic effects pyrotechnics, water jets, brilliant lasers, special computer imaging, captivating music and stunning flame bursts, make sure you get your tickets well in advance before the show to avoid disappointment, but let me inform you sentosa is a costly affair.)

- singapore flyer (its a world largest observation wheel, you ll be able to see even some parts of malaysia and indonesia)

apart frm these, there are lots of other interesting places, but i feel, these are not-to-miss places in singapore.

i hope this helps.

have a wonderful vacation.

Hi,

You need to set a budget for this trip (this is most imp).

Then, fix how many days you wish to spend out of Qatar.

All tour operators suggest tourists 3/4 days at Singapore, but my personal suggestion - you must spend minimum 8 days in Singapore to experience this city.

Hotels per night start from 60SGD.

During my backpacking days I even stayed in cheap youth-hotels for just 20SGD a night :D

Every hotel has tip-up with Singapore Tourism Board (STB) for all the sight-seeing packages and every hotel sell those packages as well as has pick up & drop off facility. As soon as you land at the airport, buy 'EZ-Link card' thru the vending machines by putting cash in, This card is one thing, without which your Life could be in mess there, it covers almost 5 public transport operators (saves you fm many hassles while commuting), just board any MRT or bus as & when you feel like.

From here, you may travel to Vietnam (3 days) and to Cambodia (3 days), Malaysia requires minimum 5 days.

If you need any further info, I am reachable on 6989 650.

Hotels are not cheap in Sing. I stay at the Holiday Inn Atrium (for the points!) and walk a lot. Pennisular is OK and cheaper. There's also a backpacker's place in Little India called The Prince of Wales. It's run by an Aussie guy and has fantastic beer on tap!

Boat Quay, Clarke Quay and up-coming Robertson key are great for nightlife. Timbre & Crazy Elephant have live music every night (look out for my friend Karen Nunis Blackstone if she's playing!) Esplanade for live music too. Chijmes is ok if you are younger or for an early evening beer. Visit Raffle for a Sling.

Little India, China Town and Arab Street are a must.

Sentosa is a bit of a tourist trap, though the aquarium is good as you travel through it on a conveyor belt.

Funan Centre is a techies dream - they need its equivalent here! Don't forget to take orders for cameras before you go though ;o)

I often stay at the RENDEZVOUS Hotel, as it is cheaper than most 4 star hotels (but still not cheap !)

From there its a pleasant / flat walk to see Chimes (an old convent now a restaurant complex) and Raffles Hotels. The latter is a "must see." Again within a few minutes walk is St Andrews Cathedral, built by Indian convict labour I understand. Minutes further down North Bridge Road is the Parliamant, Supreme Court and Fullerton Hotel, which are all "must sees" if you like architecture. Just across from the Fullerton is the new Arts Centre (The Durian Building) and the start of Boat Quay. Along the river, Boat Quay, Clarke Quay and Robertson Quay are all great places to eat and drink.

I went to Sentosa island for the first time in years. Its just a big money machine !
