Agreed, one of the best locations for scuba diving is in Mesaieed...cross QCHEM company and turn left, go straight till you find the beach. You will find many divers on weekends there. Yesterday, one of my friends had gone diving there..he told he saw some little sea-horses and also a big cormorant chasing a fish!!
Go down to Sealine in Messaid, and you will find alot of divers around there. You can hook up with anyone there and enjoy a dive. 15meter depth, vis is about 5m-10m, depending on tide and wind. Some old cars, bus and artificial reef. Pearl divers in Al Nasir street, Al-Sadd is where you can rent tanks, or full gear if required.There are some other spots around, but this is the easiest for a quick splash. There are quite a few jellyfish in the water around here, so suggest you dive at least with a full lenght skin suit.
There is a diving club in Doha near the Sharq village where you can enroll and learn scuba. If you are a trained scuba diver and have all the gear with you, there are places like the Dukhan beach, between the Sailing club and the Desal plant, where you can get to see some corals and fish at about 3 to 5 meters depth. You can also try in Ras Laffan around the Sealine beach. I have heard there are some stinging type jellyfish in RasLaffan beach but not in Dukhan.
