Be careful with the 'Arab Spring' situation, but other than that i hope you have a great trip and most EXCELLENT adventure! :-) I hope you will post afterwards to let us know how it went.

Hey - it's definitely doable. I have friends in the UK who regularly drive from Dubai to the UK. The only problem they ever had was at the Syrian border - the border guards actually dismantled their car checking for drugs, and left my friends to put it all back together again.

Other than that, i think the did the whole journey in something like 5 days.

What I most enjoy in the concept that it is Doha-UK. No intention of coming back!! Might plan very soon one of those trips also!...

Don't loose your motivation!

It is very doable. A guy did it a couple of years ago in a Range Rover and posted on QL and also web - please google.

The FJ would be a great car. I used to have one. They are slowly coming into the UK as imports. Stands out from the crowd..

Go for it..

Ozze - Given the situation in the Middle East at the moment - Syria in particular - I would not recommend it.

Your biggest problem would be transiting Saudi! Well, not to mention Iraq or Syria. What route are you planning? I think I'd do a Land Rover.
