Quad Riding Areas
I am looking to bring my quad bikes with to Qatar, and want to know if there are good riding areas?
- Are quads allowed on beaches?
- Are there places to ride other than the dunes?
- Are there any dedicated tracks? MX or other?
- Is it easy to gain access to the dunes to ride?
- How far are the dunes from Doha?
Cheers
I know your post is a couple of years old but I am interested in the same quad as you have - the 700 Raptor.
Did you make it to Doha and if so where could I get my hands on a quad like that? Ideally I'd like a well looked after second hand one. Failing that, where could I get a new one?
KOFE,
Thanks for that feedback, yep it sounds like its a lot of fun with Quads in Doha.
As for the sand kit, yep i would look at getting myself a 2nd set of rims and tyres with sand in mind, and the Flag is a must.
I cant wait.!!!

quadfly,
absolutly, it is definetly a social event, If you head to the dunes on a friday its pretty insane how many quads are buzzing about, they do have alot of raptors here and I would say its probably #2 or #3 quad here behind the banshee (suzuki quadsport 400 is popular as well). 99.9% of the riding in Qatar is in the sand dunes, to get the most out of your machine you should probably pick up some type of sand tires, a flag antenna is also recommended to increase other peoples visiability of where your at as you come to the top of the dune.
Your really going to love it here.
Hey there sa_japie,
Ah ok i got it, now i know what to refer to when speaking to the locals. :-))))))
Do you ride quads in Qatar?

Hey there Kofe,
I have a Yamaha Raptor 700 2006 SE. My wife has a 350 Raptor and JNR has a little 100cc 4 stroke. And yeah i am very very into quadding so i am keen to see what Doha has to offer.
Do people get together for rides, or do they just do their own thing but in a dedicated area.
Here in South Africa its a very social thing, i get together with mates every weekend and we go off to play.
I have been involved in Quadding for about 5 years now, and used to organise races here in South Africa. We get about 150 riders who come to the races just from our area.

thanks khalid. see you in june
the Yamaha banshee is a 350cc Twin cylinder two-stroke, Not a 250cc.
There is a very popular riding area down at "sealine beach" where you can see many different models and makes of both Quads and buggies and SUV's as well. As far as i know it is by far the most dominate type of riding (maybe the only type?) I do not think there is a track in qatar yet but you would think its only a matter of time before someone comes up with the idea to hold races here considering the popularity of the sport.
If you like to ride Quads then your going to love it here, what type of quad you got quadfly? Back in the USA i had a 250x (old i know) blaster and a banshee.
Yes quads R allowed on beaches
And 2 ride in other places you have the desert
No dedicated tracks and it's easy to gain Access to the dunes to ride.
It's 45 kilometers from Doha
You need A trailer to take your bikes to dunes

quadfly - I am very familiar with the quad scene in SA. Here there are quads as you and I know them and buggies. I was just helping jackmohan2007 out as he was mentioning buggies. A quad is called a banshee as are all photocopiers called Xerox and all tissues referred to as Kleenex.
Hope that helps you.

"To be or not to be? That is the question"
ah thanks very much and yep sa_japie, you are quite right, its a banshee(350cc 2 Stroke Yamaha Quad) not a buggy.
But generally we just call it quad biking, as the banshee is only 1 of hundreds of makes/ models of quads.
they have got the e-mail and should be in touch with you. if they dont let me know. hope it was of somehelp.
Apologies for the double posting - not sure what happened there!
Regards

I think that Quadfly is refering to Banshee rather than Buggy.
