Qatar Airways hand baggage from USA

Does anyone know about the maximum weight aloowed in the hand carry on Qatar Airways from USA. I can see on their website that 7kgs for economy class. But the reason I am confused is that in last year or so, most of the international airlines (probably all) decrease the check-in baggage from 32kgs/piece to 23kgs/piece and at the meantime the increase the hand carry weights upto 18kg.(for transatlantic flights). please advise m,e on that.

I have flown with them a few times recently and found they don't care what it weighs. As long as you stick to shoulder bag, laptop and cabin bag it seems to be ok.
