what i mean is most of these were build, not by professionals dedicated to one trade as we have today, but by those who had an inbuilt design interest and understanding. an example is the wazir khan mosque, credited to Shaikh Ilm-ud-din Ansari who was a court physician. ofcourse there are exceptions but the vast majority were inspired or evolved from other beautiful structures or art style around the region, rather than the result of the trade being taught at a uni.
najamss, i think the designers back then were those with a natural interest and aptitude. I dont think there were any specific schools or universities, most learned the fine points of their trade from the masters of the time.
Thank you, najamss. Shahjahan has always used semi-precious stones in his art work. I am greatly impressed and appreciate his work. (Ofcourse I know he engaged architects).
Shahjahan, took active interest in architecture and there are some fabulous monuments by him in and around Delhi.Agra was the capital initially so it is blessed with some. Pakistan was a part of India during Mughals so I would like to know which mughal emperor is credited to make them ?
excellent , we all know that the subcontinent is amazingly beautiful , but unfortunately only negative images and bad news come out from these places evry day

ArchitectJ,
But we look at the history, we found many educational institutions which were built in West during that era...
