Mowasalat Announcement
Mowasalat has told the public that if a taxi driver refuses to switch on the fare meter, passengers may consider such
trips to be “totally free”. “Passengers may call the police if the driver insists on payment in such cases,” a Mowasalat
of icial had earlier told Gulf Times. The company has come out with the announcement in the wake of oft-repeated
complaints of passengers. Mowasalat has also displayed the announcement prominently through posters on the taxis
and other company vehicles. “This is being done to demonstrate our commitment to the passengers who rely on
Mowasalat’s Karwa taxis ,” said a company of official - Gulf Times.
Nothing is parfect under the sun.but you need to Ask yourselves between the passenger and the company, who is spoilling who.becouse if you ask the driver hé will say is the company for not giving us good money or hé would say is the passenger everytime i try to switch on meter they refuse and and they tell me to take then without the meter.so you need to know whassup.becouse to me they are good drivers when you open up they take me with meter or without after aproatching them with respect.
Contentment inside the story might be the anti-smoking groups are apparently more concerned about ideology than concerning the lives of people which smoke. Better that ex-people that smoke who've quit without Large Pharma products have revisit best electronic cigarette cigarette smoking in contrast regarding the they continue being off cigarettes, but nevertheless undergo a motion that seems like cigarette smoking.
You'll be capable of bring your fancy statistics completely for your bank (to get financing for your investment you'll owe for the losing wager).
I am extremely wary of riding in a Mowasalat taxi after today. The driver refused to switch on the meter when I asked him to, and after he reached my destination, he demanded to be paid at least twice of what would have been the typical meter fare . When I refused and told him I would only pay what was the reasonable fare, he used foul language and got very intimidating and started to move the car forward while I had one foot out of the door. Following the incident I called up Mowasalat and lodged a complaint with them. The call center advised that they would investigate the matter. Luckily I had the presence of mind to note the taxi number. The driver was of African descent.
I second everything BeeP said, I talk to a lot of Taxi drivers, they barely make it to the end of the month and most of them end up quitting (the ones that do not have debts to repay back home and no dependents) the minimum charge of 10 qr is too low add to that the fact that there's more and more traffic in Doha which means it takes them sometimes up to 30 minutes to drive 2 miles. We have to try and understand their wants and needs. They still live 4 in a room, no kitchen facitlties in their accomodation which means they have to spend money to eat at the canteen. Sounds like Karwa hasn't really done it's homework.
We all understand the poor pay of taxi drivers and we all agree that they should be paid at least a standard salary matching their needs but as a responsible residents / visitor to this country we should not encourage the illegal practise and we should be SAFE than Sorry.. we should be the ethical trend setter and should STOP the Malpractices.
WHAT SAY?
hahahahaha, don't want to lose their income stream. Just refuse to pay and then call the police.
YOUR STUPID DRIVERS ARE STARTING TO REMOVE THE ANNOUNCEMENT STICKERS ON THE TAXIS...
That's good!
:D
one of my lady friend, hired karwa taxi at city center with lots of groceries for a week consume. All groceries safely placed at taxi compartment, then upon arrival at her apartment before going out from taxi she paid the taxi bill first (no meter of course)taxi driver did'nt went out from his car with to help her taking out all groceries but instead a matter of seconds taxi speed up along with the groceries and my friend left behind totally shock!!!!!! To the shock she did not even managed to record taxi number. So to all of you guys be carefulllll.
If you can't come to an agreement with a taxi driver, walk away and find another cab. And, if the worst happens and your driver demands more money than you agreed to pay, leave the agreed-upon fare on the seat and exit the cab.
honestly, i am paying those drivers who won't turn ON the meter as long as they wont ask for more than what you have to pay when the meter is ON because I understand their situation, especially those who are on rent basis.
i just hate those drivers who refuse to take you and always complaining of traffic.
this is really good news! i spoke with a few drivers of karwa, they said that they don't have a very good salary so sometimes they are not using the meter! but doing that makes it unfair to the passengers too so maybe its ok if they don't use the meter but let the passengers pay the usual fare on that particular destination but sometimes they are asking far too much especially if you go out on evenings and need a ride back home! westbay to alsadd/ la cigale to westbay is like QR40-50 thats absurd! anyho this makes it fair to everyone concerned! the meter is there for a purpose so let's use it!
Agreed that they are paid less.. but they can leave the job if they feel pay is less.. rather then cheating .. no one tied them with rope to work
the driver refusing to turn the meter on isnt acceptable of course, but instead of listening to one end, ever wonder why they would do that?
i personally believe it is out of desperation, due to numerous allegations they are barely covering there expenses here, not getting what they were promised (during hiring) and to add pain to insult, their poor working conditions (hours, policies, etc)
instead of building customer satisfaction with this media stunt, they should have tried to build there internal issues prior.
the articles title, fair fare. pretty ironic.
In my experience, most Karwa taxi drivers don't use their taxi meter during night time especially in City Center. They will just ask you QR25 minimum fare.
GOOD!
this is a very good lesson to teach to abusive taxi drivers. what i hate most is that when you are already seated inside then tell them where you want to go, they always say "my friend, very traffic there, i won't go there"
i always tell these kind of drivers that anywhere you go in Doha, there is traffic, if you don't want traffic, you go fly >:(
This has always been the case and I did point this out a couple of weeks ago. Happened to me a few times and they chased me when I wouldn't pay and said they would call the police. I would always stop and say what are you waiting for. They then disappear.
