The MIA is brilliant.. IM Pei I guess did a great job on the building. Its free, they have an interactive kit which u can use while browsing the artefacts.. its open on Public Holidays.. well it was open during National Day at least.. u need a good full day to fully appreciate the place.

Thanks, Tallg.

Initially, I was thinking about going for the ND celebrations and popping over to the museum (and was wondering if it was gonna be open on a public holiday) ...

I've been there this morning. The museum is will organized although it was crowded. The multimedia is distributed for free. The temporary exhibition is spectacular .In my opinion, the "book of secret" is the master piece along with Feda Hussein paintings. The cafe is not yet open & the gift shop needs improvement. I think the museum can come alive, if amateur painters, street jugglers & musicians are invited to populate the outside garden

Is the restaurant up and running yet? It wouldn't surprise me if it has different opening times from the museum itself.

My biggest gripe is that they shut at 5:30 every day except Friday (8:00). There's already nowt to do in the evening and they have a restaurant on the top deck the will obviously only be used for lunch!

Is there going to be any family day restrictions at the museum? I'm imagining once the bachelors start coming on Fridays, there will be. I just wonder so I know what day to plan to visit

Hey baldrick - have you been yet?

Looking at the website it only says video can't be used in the museum. So I guess it's ok for photography. The 50mm f/1.4 may come into it's own in that sort of environment!

If you look on the website I mentioned and go to the map, you'll see there is a seperate hall for temporary exhibitions. I'd imagine the museum will be paying for these exhibits to visit and will levy a small charge to try to recoup their outlay.

If you run very fast you could probably see it all in 5 minutes, however if you stop and examine each exhibit it could take a week. Bit of a daft question really.
