I want to visit Qatar for a holiday, I have been put off by the price of eating out/ drinking.

Basically I have a friend who has been to Doha before and they claim it's very expensive, can anyone reccomend a cheaper way to have a good time in Doha?

It seems like you just want to waist your money and have some horrible time, If you want to hear an advice then hear it from me, Go to DUBAI...There is nothing fun in Qatar.

Contrary to popular belief, Doha doesn't want ANY tourists. Ever. If you want to visit the Gulf and have a nice time, try visiting, umm, any place but Doha. Hotels are too expensive, there is nothing for tourists to do, and the authorities have created rules to ensure that tourists don't have fun. Basically - tourists aren't wanted here. Go someplace else.

I totally agree 100% with what Garadene said, you hit the nail on the head with your comments. If your looking for a good time in this part of the world head to Dubai, its civalised with more variety, without the red tape to get into bars!!!

Eating out any where in Doha astronomical prices, some places u need to eat a sandwich will cost something like ten Qatar riyals (i.e +- 3 US $) the person who sent the first reply to ur query has summed it up quite nicely and honestly here are some of his comment

"want to have a good time for less in the Mideast,go to Dubai, you'll be spoiled for choice with bars, restaurants, shopping & activities to suit EVERY pocket..." ...........

please give it a serious thought before u venture in for this expedition

"a good time in Doha"???...ROTFL!! you must be referring to a different town my friend, there's no such thing as having a good time here...cheap or expensive...the places that serve alcohol are ALL attached to 4 or 5 star hotels, are MOSTLY sausage factories, although by the red tape to get in to them(you would need to carry your original passsport),one would think it was the playboy mansion...drinks prices are on the higher side, variety is restricted to the stuff that every average bar on the planet would stock,if even that...there are a few good restaurants, but nothing one wouldn't find better anywhere else in the world...want to have a good time for less in the mideast,go to Dubai, you'll be spoiled for choice with bars, restaurants, shopping & activities to suit EVERY pocket...
