How will get USA/UK/Canada passport for new baby?
By ilovemyindia •
I would like to get a European Passport for my children. I have a plan to take a full family visit visa and reached in any European county like UK, Canada, USA… And stay there in the time of my wife delivery.
It will work out to get a USA/Canada/ UK Passport for my new baby? Any idea about the rules for the new babys in that places?
In Canada the government is examining such "visits" carefully and in some cases refusing to grant citizenship to those trying to defraud the system. They are currently in the proceess of revoking Canadian citizen ship to nearly 2000 people who misused the immigration system - about time IMHO.
BTW if you love India so much - why isn't Indian citizenship "good" enough for your children?
get married again to a UK/USA/Canada national man/woman to get passport for yourself only if you are clever enough you can get passport for your bady even if he/she is an adult later on
First off, Canada and the US are not in Europe nor are they part of the European union, so you won't be able to get a passport for those countries you deliver your baby in Europe. It will be difficult to travel after 8 months of pregnancy, even if you have a visa. Many airlines don't want to have babies delivered in flight so they often prevent women who are 8 months pregnant or later from flying with them.I'd suggest forget about going to Canada if you are close to delivery time. Canada will be very careful about letting pregnant women who are close to delivery into the country precisely because too many people have used it as a way to get a citizenship for their children.
In UK you will not get passport, but if the baby is born in Northern Ireland, the baby used to be eligible for Republic of Ireland passport (not UK). But my brother says that this has also changed in 2005.
