Horrible Experience - Doha International Airport security guards
I just want to share with you my terrible experience with the security guards in Doha International Airport. We went to the airport for my sister's departure and just before we enter the door the security guards asked us if we are all passengers and even asked for our passports & tickets. I told him that my sister is travelling alone and she needs us to assist her for her baggage but these security guards started to act so rude and kept on telling us to stay outside. I told him that I want to talk to his supervisor 'coz I want to report his attitude towards us, when I talked to the supervisor and two arab ladies they told me that this guy is just doing his job.. well, I told them that - yeah he's doing his job but is that the way he should to do it? to be rude to people who are just asking for a small favor? we don't even plan to stay there for long hours 'coz we just want to help her check-in her baggage and make sure that everything is okay.. anyway, this security guard and the arab lady even threatened me that they'll call the police to report me.. and after talking to these inconsiderate DIA staffs whom I'm not sure if they can really understand english, we decided to just stay outside but before that the security guard keeps on yelling at me saying "you're not welcome here!", "that's you're world stay outside!" well, somehow I'm glad 'coz I defended myself from these rude staffs by telling them that they are so stupid that they don't know how to respect their customers and which makes me think if these staffs are educated & really qualified for their jobs.. -based from that experience, I realized that DIA staffs are not capable of handling their customers well.. I guess the management should train on how to perform their job in a right way.. Now, it makes me wonder if they know the meaning of GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE?! Well, what goes around, comes around.. they'll get what they deserve.. you may also share your thoughts or share your stories if you have encountered the same.. =)
Once I read somewhere that:"Customer service is not a department, It's an attitude." I believe this quotation is applicable to security also.
I totally agree with Biju.. I guess you can't do anything with the racists.. I saw Arabs who are entering even if they are not passengers.. Actually, I tried to asked the guards "why they can enter even if they are not passengers?" and told me that it's none of my business.. well, this is DISCRIMINATION!
Even the Police inside sometimes rude, one day happened to me one police man kicked on my shoes to check anything inside? is this is the way, if he wanted to check my shoe he can ask me to remove it insted he is kicking in a irrespective way?!! this happened to me because I am an Indian if I am an Arab or Western he will never do, this is a kind of colour/creed discrimination, you cant change this people.
Alright, end of the story and from the feedbacks that I received I guess they are blaming me.. I hope people here are not insensitive and wishing they are open minded.. First of all, I'm not insisting to go inside the airport.. I just asked him if we could help my sister and if not then it's fine with me.. he doesn't need to tell me many times that I'm not welcome and I just need to stay outside 'coz I'm not an idiot.. well, one day he'll gonna get what he deserve and maybe someday someone might teach him a lesson he deserve.. KARMA!!! =)
Thanks for your comments and I respect each and everyone's opinion about this incident.. I understand that this is their job but why are they acting so rude.. I guess they are stupid than animals (sorry for my words).. If they talked to me in a nice way probably I'll just let him stop me but with the attitude he showed towards me without doing anything against him of course I will defend myself.. Well, it's all about the management - RULES ARE RULES but they also need to train their staff how to enforce their rules in such a good & respectable way.. The only thing that I can do now is just to pray for them and hope that they can still change their attitudes.. All they need is to respect others for them to be respected too.. =)
They were actually right about the thing. The moment you enter Doha Airport for departures, the whole area is for passengers ONLY. And considering the extreme level of security in Qatar, it is easy to understand their attitude. So learn the lesson and be more flexible next time.
I also understand your feeling. I think they dont allow the people who are accompanying passengers because the size of airport is pretty small and cannot accommodate too much people. Hopefully once the NDIA is built, we wont face such problems.
I travel every month. Never had any problems. The guards are always very nice and courteous.
I understand your feeling, but please also understand that they are only doing their jobs. If you are in the position, may be you will do the same. You are not the only customer who want to go inside the airport, imagine if there are 100 passengers each of them has a family or friends who want to accompany. There are times that you can go inside, if it is not a peak hour. I tried this many times. Be more patience....
Why not getting the service of a porter to help the lady ?
In many airports, the check in area is exclusively for passenger and staffs , so may be the guards is just enforcing the rule...
Cheers
SK
That is actually passenger area, I know in Dubai you can buy access to departure check in area for 10Rials to see off single Lady Traveler like we do in Pakistan for Railway Platform. I am not sure about Qatar but carrying your passport with you for next time is not a bad idea.
We have heard from you but we didn’t hear from the other side. Who is right and who is wrong; it is very difficult to decide. I just want to say that we have to respect rules and systems. If they say don’t enter, why you should challenge to enter especially. You know how security is very tight now at airports; trying to prevent any bad things to happen there. I think you were lucky for not been arrested as terrorist.

its their job to see if the passengers are going inside or people who've come to see them off...
they r jus doing their job, but the language they used or the attitude can be complained about.
They are just doing their job..Its just you got the wrong security guard on the wrong day.
Well, I have encountered the same thing. From salespeople to taxi drivers. They are everywhere, I'm telling you.
