EMIRATES AIRLINES !!

Hey people, How do you find services from emirates air lines? I flew emirates just a week ago and no less than 4-5 customers walked away angrily form the check in counters at dubai. it took 2 hours for them to check us in, which was quite frustrating because i had my 9 month old baby along with me. the girl in the counter seemed to have no clue how to check in customers and gave SEVERAL excuses for her ignorance and kept walking from one end to the other with our passports finally gave up after 2 hours and let someone else check us in. and taht someone says that it was our fault that my baby was inclucded in my passport. (this was one of the many reasons they gave). it was crazy. and we were not the only ones who were frustrated.

then the flight took off 1 hour late.

was it just last week or are they always the same? poor service and they summon excuses out of thin air!! they accuse the customer even if the fault is all theirs. i find it extremely funny and stupid for a well known air line to be so.

Xena - is the probem with gates here in Qatar or also in Dubai? If it's here in Doha, the problem is not with Emirates.

everytime i fly with them the boarding gates change... Now while I don't have a problem going from one end of the airport to the other, I do have a problem with trying to do it at boarding time...

4 times I have flown with them, and every single time they changed the boarding gates and not just next door, the complete opposite side of the terminals concerned. After the second time I started checking boarding gate info every 10 min, just incase and managed to make it to the new boarding gates on time...

While I realise that boarding gates are probably the airports responsibility, how do Emirates get it so wrong... everytime? I have started to think they just put a gate number on, and hope for the best and then change it when the right one comes through.... SAA and QA have never done this to me, so I don't get why it happens with Emirates.

with small baby or kids around u, dont expect the airline to babysit for u... u need to decide then whether less expensive indirect flight or more expensive direct flight... so to save some bucks ur blaming Emirates, its but obvious that EK will travel via dubai, being its hub... donot compare like this...

Emirates were fabulous back in the day but they've been disappointing in the last few trips. Saying that, I'd rather fly with them than Qatar Airways any day of the week - they're so crap!

Hats off to Qatar Airways.. They are by far the BEST I have flewn so far. I travelled alone when my baby was 3 minths old and the flight was 5 hours Direct. there was no problem at all! i would not recomend ANYONE to fly emirates unless they have no choice because it was pure torture for me as an individual but mostly to see my baby suffer because of their delays and ignorance. when u travel with a baby less than 1 year of age, you tend to plan ahead what and not to carry, feeding times, sleeping etc. but it all went hay wire for us. but good to know that it wasnt actually US (like they said) to be blamed.

I always prefer Emirates and perhaps it is best available in some of the sectors i have been. You cannot compare with Lufthansa but Qatar Airways/Ethihad they are worse than Emirates.

I totally disagree, I will never fly Qatar Air ever again even if I have to swim or walk or crawl to reach my destination.

Emirates has always been professional and provided excellent service. Have I had issues with them? Yes. Were those issues addressed promptly and in a professional manner? Yes. Do I always get what I want? No. But I am listened to and provided with professional courtesy and respect? Yes.

Qatar Airways cannot compare in ANY of those categories.

eta I have been using Emirates for more than 10 years, I have only flown with QA 3x and had a total of 7 written complaints that I filed with them. None of which were addressed beyond a generic "we followed the rules, go away" type of response. 4 of the complaints received no response whatsoever.

Twice in the last 5 years they have screwed up my flights. Due to technical faults in their aircraft at Doha airport they delayed departure and since it arrived Dubai an hour late, my connecting flight to Karachi had taken off already so I had to stay at the airport for 7 hours. The other time luckily the stay was more than 8 hours so they gave me a hotel overnight.. But on the whole, Emirates sucks real bad but I still use it bcoz the arrival time in Karachi is good compared to QA. Qatar Airways departs at 1am and arrives in Karachi at 6am which is inconvenient to everyone..Secondly Emirates allows 30kg baggage whereas other airlines allow only 20 kg. While going its not a problem bcoz all airlines let you take 40 Kg from Doha airport but while coming back its a big problem since what can I bring from Karachi in just 20 kg and I always paid over 10 kg excess baggage but since I started using the crappy Emirates airline, I am allowed 30 so I don't pay more than 5 thousand rupees for excess baggage..

They suck when it comes to on board service as well. I once flew with them from here to Jo'Burg, Business Class and I can say for sure that Qatar Airways economy service was better than their Business Class service.
