SALAAM,

WHEN YOU REACH THE BORDER THERE ARE THREE TO FOUR SECTIONS OF VISA COUNTERS AND THERE IS A SEPARATE COUNTER FOR US/EUROPE CITIZENS YOU WILL BE GIVEN VISA UPON ARRIVAL ON THE BORDER CHECKPOINT AND IF YOU TRAVEL BY AIR YOU ARE GIVEN VISA UPON ARRIVAL AT THE AIRPORT FOR 100 DIRHAMS. I HOPE THIS HELPS. REGARDS

Please be aware that if you are a woman who is traveling, you MUST be with a male relative who is driving. The only other male who can be driving you is a licensed driver from your husband's company, and that's only with written permission from the company. Remember, you must also cover completely.

Yes you need visa (cross Saudi by road to UAE) prior to travel from Saudi embassy...

However you can get on arrival visa easily from UAE border,

Best of luck & have a safe journey
