Hello all!
Well here we are, got ourselves a group. This week I shall do my best to get all of you who jam them 6 strings to get in on the home recording boat. Well if that's not your bag, don't despair, at least you can kiss that shoddy sounding practice amp goodbye, as I will be introducing detailed methods on how to turn your computer into an amp, and perhaps a multi-fx unit as well, all at NO COST! Due to copyright laws which we have to obey, this means I'll be pointing you in the direction of a ton of freebies, but again, do not despair, fortune favours us guitarists as the freebies are, at least when it comes to the field of "amplifier simulation" far superior to their "commercial" counterparts. We will be doing this one step at a time, making a few essential assumptions on the way:
1. You use Windows (I hope you use XP, but the tutorials are applicable in Shi...sorry Vista). We'll be taking care of the mac crowd as well but you lads and lassies have GarageBand anyways :P
2. You do not have a fancy "interface". (If you're serious about recording you'll need one though and much more about that soon!)
3. You know next to nothing about the following terms: ASIO, VST, DAW...
Well that's it for now, and keep in mind this is a free to join, free to contribute group which I will moderate only in the most extreme of cases, so let loose with all your suggestions and demands as you see fit.
Happy riffing!
